The scope of the models can quickly become very large, especially in projects in which collaborative work is carried out. To keep the overview, EA offers the Model Search. With the Model Search, models can be searched for in three different ways, using:
- Query Builder
- SQL Search
- Add-in Search
The Query Builder is a “Query By Example” approach, where elements can be searched according to specific criteria. It is not possible to query elements and their links!
The SQL Search allows you to search directly in Enterprise Architect’s DB Repository. It is also possible to query elements and their links to other elements. In order to search from one starting element all other connected elements following a specific link type requires recursive searches, which are currently not supported from within EA.
Add-in searches are programmed searches that return an XML result set that is displayed in the search window of the EA. With the add-in search, every imaginable query is possible, including recursive searches and searches in which other systems are integrated!
