Perspectives
Introduction of the new ‘Model Perspectives’ technology to support the modelling and publication of perspective sets:
- Perspectives are defined as one or more technology sets.
- Perspectives can now be linked to security groups to define which ribbons and parts of a ribbon are available to specific users.
- The ribbon button ‘PUBLISH PERSPECTIVE’ has been added to the ‘Specialize’ category to manage modelled perspectives.
- The browser and diagram context menus display the ‘PUBLISH PERSPECTIVE’ option when a perspective element or perspective workspace package is selected.
- The ‘MODEL PERSPECTIVE’ toolbox has been expanded to include some ‘Example Patterns’, which contain all ribbon category elements and ribbon group attributes.
- The new ‘MODELED’ tab has been added to the ‘PERSPECTIVE SET’ dialogue to manage modelled perspectives. It shows all <<PERSPECTIVE WORKSPACE>> packages in the model.
- The behaviour of perspectives has been greatly improved, including many updates and refinements to the user interface.
- Updated the layout of the Perspective Sets dialogue, including:
- Renaming the tabs:
- ‘Model-Based Sets’ to “Shared Sets”,
- ‘Group Restrictions’ to “Security Enforced” and
- ‘System Visibility’ to ’System Sets’
- Addition of the ‘Access Locked to:’ combo box to allow better control over who can make changes.
- The ‘Personal Sets’ and ‘Shared Sets’ tabs now contain sub-tabs for ‘Perspectives’ and ‘Ribbons’.
- Model based ribbon sets have been added (Start | Perspective | Settings | Shared (model based) Ribbons).
- The management of security-related restrictions has been simplified by allowing only shared or modeled perspectives and ribbon sets to be applied.
- Added ‘SET ALL’ and ‘CLEAR ALL’ buttons on the ‘GROUP ( security based ) Perspectives page when editing group based permissions.
- The ‘System Sets’ tab of the ‘Perspectives Sets’ dialogue has been updated to include a ‘Save’ button.
- The ‘Perspectives’ page of the ‘Portals’ window has been updated to show ‘Personalized’ instead of ‘shared (model based) sets’ when restrictions apply.
- Shared toolboxes of MDGTechnologies are now only displayed if the current perspective contains the technology.
- The quick access menu option ‘My Ribbon Sets’ has been removed when working in a restricted perspective environment.
- Fixed the file selection behavior when publishing a personal perspective to a new file under Linux/Wine.
- The <Model-default> ribbon set is applied correctly when opening a ‘non-safe model’.
- Restricted ribbons are updated when closing or reloading a model to ensure they are displayed correctly.
- The import and export behavior of personal and shared perspective sets has been updated so that one set can be published at a time.
- When importing a perspective set that already exists in the model, you will be prompted to overwrite or recreate it.
- The Technology Builder, Model Perspectives and Model Add-Ins technologies are no longer always displayed regardless of the perspective selected.
- Personal and shared ribbon set dialogues have been updated to include context menus for ‘Apply’, ‘Copy to Shared’ and ‘Move to Shared’.
- The ‘SYSTEM DEFAULT’ option has been removed from the ‘SHARED’ ribbon sets.
- Added the possibility to copy a shared perspective to your personal set.
- Security Enforced Ribbon Sets (formal Group Restriction) can be copied to the Shared Ribbon Sets to reuse them between multiple security groups.
Make sure that the ribbon category ‘SETTINGS’ is always available for the administrator after a ribbon set has been applied.
- Deactivated MDG technologies are excluded from applied technology sets.
- Activating a perspective workspace in the model with an empty technology set displays an error message to indicate that the operation has failed.
- A ‘last action taken’ text display has been added to the PERSPECTIVE Sets | MODELED page to clarify whether an action has been completed or failed.
Make sure that the commands ‘Perspective Sets’ | ‘Personal Sets’ | ‘Ribbon Copy’ and ‘Move’ are deactivated if a model is not open.
- ‘Custom Technology’ perspectives are always visible to administrators and members with special access to perspective settings.
- The ‘Model Builder WINDOWS’ display the last locally set perspective filter if the active perspective does not change.
